Gourmet tasting mushroom risotto, but easy

Haven’t tried any Trader Joe’s risotto’s, always feared the worst. Like its not that complicated of a dish but always seemed like it should be. Could a freezer version really be good? Mushroom seemed like a safe first try, its flavorful but not too much, might be the most forgiving. Excited and scared but jumped into trying this!

Nutrition and how to for mushroom risotto

For risotto pretty damn good calorie wise! Always think of it as a heavy food, but an entire bag is under 500 calories. Even sodium isn’t terrible, for frozen foods let alone meals its usually higher. You can cook it on the stove or in the microwave, already slightly worried so went with stove top. Give it the best chance to shine! Plus time wise they workout to be around the same total, 7-8 minuets for stove top or 7 for microwave. Let the cooking begin!

Do you believe in magic?

Before and during! Like how! It really cooked like magic. It says just to add two spoons of water, dump in, and mix. Was extra nervous with that–no oil! Its going to stick! And it did a little but then as it defrosted a sauce magically appeared. The giant things I thought were weird mushrooms were mushrooms and sauce, it all started to come together around the 2-3 minuet mark. I stopped mixing like crazy and just softly did, once the sauce was there is just needed a little. It actually looks….good! Fears were melting like the risotto 🙂

Happy surprise!

Its good! Its better then good! It taste like real risotto! Added a little extra cheese for fun but it didn’t need anything, no oil, no salt, no nothing! A few drops of water, the frozen bag, and bam! You have a full meal or amazing side dish. Its creamy, has the mushroom flavor and little bites along the way, and tastes amazing. Going to try all the risottos now! A rare 10/10, like this was way better then expected and so glad I tried it! Give the risottos a chance, you wont regret it.
