Juice and Protein go Together
Superbowl and Valentines day in one week has my tummy a little extra full! Perfect excuse to test out these juices and protein bar form Trader Joe’s. I’ve heard amazing things about the bar and always love a quick juice cleanse when feeling extra bloated. I don’t have a pressed nearby and didn’t want to commit to a 3-5 day juice, having these two available right at TD’s is a huge help! Can grab em and mix with some raw veggies for a quick detox. I added the bat since I still wanted to workout, need a little protein to balance that out. So how were they all?
Barebells cookies and cream protein bar
OH MY GOD! This taste like a real chocolate bar! I’m so used to protein bars having that off-putting taste, almost like cardboard and just eating them as an eh snack that’s protein packed. This is amazing! The cookies and cream flavor inside is smooth and doesn’t have that protein funk. The chocolate outside and crunchies on top is where it shines! SO GOOD! It reminds me of a 100 grand bar in texture, crunchy outside but smooth in, cant believe a protein bar tastes this good. It is 200 calories which normal for a bar can be high for a protein snack. But the macro makeup is protein heavy, if you eating it with a light lunch or juice like I did its perfect for weight loss. If your just looking to protein up after a workout, build muscle, or going high protein its perfect anytime! 9/10, would be 10/10 but calories are a little high for me.
Trader Joe’s Green Juice
Also a big win! This green juice taste just as good as more expensive brands and has some great ingredients in it. I’m usually a Suja drinker when I juice or get it from a bar and taste wise this was on par! It also oddly enough filled me up, sometimes juice feels like nothing but there was something behind this one. Made form all organic fruits and veggies, leaning in on the green veggies more which is a plus for calories, and then just some tea. I drank some first thing in the day, then protein bar, then sipped this all afternoon and felt good to go. Added in some cucumber to snack on but it filled me pretty well for the day. 8/10 green juice!
Trader Joe’s Red Juice
Also good! Not my favorite flavor but you need a hearty juice to get you thru the day, and beets can do that. Ingredient wise it stays heavy on veggies again, which usually the thicker juices don’t! Appreciate that! Beets definitely are the star here as a warning, if your not a fan this juice wont be for you. But it fills you up with lots of goodness. I used this one for dinner since it has more filling power and it worked! I didn’t even drink the entire juice, felt full enough and also not a huge beet girl. For that I give it a 6/10, flavor isn’t for me but a great juice to use and great ingredients. Price wise the small bottles are around 3$ which is killer.
How’d the cleanse go?
Great! While red juice wasn’t my favorite it had its place and got me thru the night. Barebell bars and green juice were amazing and ant to have them again! Which is mind-blowing for juice and protein bars lol. I only had a little cucumber and carrots with these and still did a light workout in the morning. Not for multiple days and just a thrown together get your sh*t together cleanse after a lot of fun food holidays. Feel ready to go and ready to eat lighter and healthier. Can have them together or just intro one to your day’s, either way can help add veggies and protein in a tasty affordable way<3
