Easy Cheesy Cherry Turnovers
The easiest turnovers ever thanks to Trader Joe’s amazing Amarena Cherry goat cheese. Only 4 real ingredients and a cupcake tin and your set! Kid friendly and easy to eat since you make them cupcake size, but so good you’ll want to eat them all. If your looking for a fast dessert that’s still a show stopper–this is it! Could also be a fun breakfast/brunch treat.
All you really need! Biscuits make the base of this treat, can also use puff pastry if you’d prefer. The Amarena cherry cheese is literally THE cheese. Hero of this dish and why its so easy to make! This amazing cheese taste almost like cherry cheesecake on its own, its so good and ready straight from the wrapper to be a dessert. Such a find! Of course paired with Amarena cherries, take off the stems and chopped a little. Then dusted with egg wash and sprinkled with some sugar–your good to go!
Your going to combined the biscuits into two blobs, there’s too much and its hard to roll if you do one. The get your rolling pin and flatten it out! Try to get it around 1/4th an inch thick and then slice into six equal parts and repeat with your other dough. Take each piece and press it into your cupcake tin, its doesn’t have to be perfect at all. Make sure there’s a cup like bottom and some extra on top to fold over. not looking for perfection and like the rustic simple look of each one being different for these.
Next take a small spoonful of your cherries and place it in each cup, probably around 3-5 pieces of cherry with a little sauce. Then top with a small scoop or Amarena cherry cheese, just saying the name makes me smile 🙂 Hardest part that isn’t that hard is next–folding the dough over. Pull up two opposite corners and fold inward. Press the two together in the center lightly, if one has just one large corner just folder it over the top. Goal is to cover part but also leave some showing. Use egg wash and sprinkle some sugar–time to bake!
Look how pretty! Easiest ever to make, can be a treat or breakfast since were using biscuits and cheese as main ingredients, and just cherry heaven! Tastes so good, those Amarena cherry products just can’t miss. The cheese especially takes away the prep work for flavoring a cheese. Its already sweet and delicious. My son loved these and loved that he could hold it on his own and not make a huge mess, cup shaped pastries for the win! Enjoy!
