Protein packed pancakes to start the day
I LOVE Breakfast! Usual go to is egg, egg whites, and toast but love to mix it up. Usually just fun it up here and there, its always my easy healthy meal of the day. But when I saw these protein pancakes at Trader Joe’s new I had to try them 🙂 Love pancakes but save them as a treat or breakfast for dinner—but protein you say? Could this be a carb/protein mix of my breakfast dreams? So excited to take a closer look and a try!
But is there enough protein?
Yes! A serving is easy to prepare and has a higher percent of your daily protein the carbs–for pancakes that’s huge! Hardly any fat and ingredients are real things and simple at that, love to see it. 1/3rd mix and 1/3rd water is all you need for two pancakes, a perfect breakfast size. Syrup it…..syrup. All sugar lol but that’s why its so great. Use a drizzle and its fine though, 8 servings per bottle but it’ll last me at least double. A little goes a long way! My son loves m&m pancake sonly thanks to diner trips lol so these will be just for me.
Prep, or lack there of
This is it! Add 1/3rd a cup of mix, then 1/3rd a cup of water, and mix it up. I always do dry ingredients first so I can use the same measuring cup and not have things get sticky, lazy hack. Mixed easily and was a thicker batter, but kinda like that. I used some olive oil spray, let it heat up, and poured half the batter. 1/2 minuets each side and pancake was ready! Usually my first pancake comes out bad, and then they get great–these were the opposite! First was fluffy and pretty, second looked a little rough. Odd but ok.
And the taste?
A winner! They were great! Taste just like a normal pancake to me but felt like I was prepping for a workout eating them lol. Also would make a great post workout snack! Top one was the pretty first, bottom the sad second, but both tasted amazing. The syrup was sweet and a little did go far! Id give the mix 9/10 and syrup 7/10, its good but the same as any you can grab–nothing special. Might have these a couple times a week now! Switch toast with some fun pancakes. Worth a try if you want to up protein but still enjoy pancakes, or just for fun! Might not notice a difference in taste 🙂
