No prep sriracha shrimp bowl
Grew up eating lean cuisines and weight watchers, this box meal from Trader Joe’s is the adulting version of them! Love sriracha, love shrimp, and that picture just looks too good not to try. It reads pretty healthy too which is even better in my book! But does it live up to it? Is the taste there or is it a sad microwaveable meal you regret? Lets dig in!
Lean cuisine level nutrition?
I’d say yes! Sodium is high as every microwaveable meal, and many many other things. Its so hard to keep low, an dim a salt and sauce addict. Calories are low if this fills you for lunch, and the fat/carb/protein mix is pretty great. Main ingredients are all real foods too, rice/shrimp/actual veggies which is a great start. You can cook it in the microwave or the oven, but oven takes around 30-40 minuets :0 Went with the microwave, usually oven is better but I cant see it justifying that much time.
Lookin pretty good!
Impressed as I made this! Picture on the left is after 3 minuets in the microwave, right as you stir it up. Ingredients look good, tons of veggies, and shrimp actually look decent! While I love them was a little scared or a prepackaged shrimp meal, but even without sauce coating them they look good. On the right is after the mix, 2 minuets more cooking, and a few minuets of rest. Always let it rest with the plastic on top, it lets it steam and finish cooking 🙂 At this point super excited to try!
So good!
HUGE fan of this meal! Portion was big! That little bowl it came in almost tricked me! Its a great size portion, perfectly balanced with veggies/carbs and pops of shrimp. The sauce was flavorful but couldn’t resist a little sriracha sprinkle on top 🙂 This is a big win, going to be in my freezer for whenever a quick pretty healthy meal is needed. Its tasty and you feel good eating it, something id actually make but would take wayyyyy longer. 9/10 and surprised! Big big fan!
